Service Hours

For Students

The Idaho Humane Society’s Humane Education program offers an opportunity for junior high and high school students to volunteer and help fulfill service learning hours.

Students will work on projects to help shelter pets. There is a $5 fee to offset the cost of the projects and registration is required. Each session has a capacity of 10 students and will be held from 4pm-6pm. Sessions are held in the Education Classroom at our Bird Campus.

2022-2023 Service Dates: Due to COVID-19, we are not offering in-person service hour opportunities yet. Students can complete service hours from home and help our shelter animals at the same time!

We are currently revamping our Humane Education Booklet for students to compete for projects at home. We will have this updated by Fall 2022.

Homemade Pet Treats: Please include the recipe with dropoff so we can safely care for pets with allergies.

Check out our Humane Education Pinterest Boards!  Click here to visit our Pinterest boards to see some DIY ideas on how you can create enrichment and treats for our shelter animals.

All time spent researching, completing, and delivering donations will be counted towards school service hours.

If you need a student volunteer slip to give to your teacher, please be sure to ask a front desk staff member when dropping off your donations. Donations can be dropped off at either location during regular business hours.
