Birthday

Parties

Whether you’re turning 3 or 100, we are happy to host your birthday or special occasion at IHS (select your date below). Your friends and family will have a fantastic time celebrating a loved one’s birthday, and you’ll make an impact at the same time. Integrated within the fun, partygoers will learn about IHS, what we do, and why we learn about the humane treatment of our furry friends. Each event helps to provide care to pets in need and community resources to keep pets and families together.

Two hour parties will be hosted in our education room at our shelter at 1300 S. Bird Street in Boise. We will provide decorations and tablecloths, but guests are also welcome to bring their own. We will provide goody bags for the kids and a special gift for the honored birthday guest.

The party will be customized to your group’s interests, age, and size. Depending on your schedule and desired activities, our education coordinator is happy to provide games, an open-ended art activity, and/or a photo booth with dress-up items.

Because we are actively working to help homeless pets find their forever homes, the animals in the shelter are constantly changing, and we cannot guarantee direct animal interaction. Living in an animal shelter can be very stressful, and their safety and well-being are our main concerns. On the day of your scheduled event, our humane education coordinator will work with the shelter staff to determine if some animals are social and interested in visiting with people.

Sample Schedule

10:00-10:30ish Welcome and gather for important information (including shelter rules), assemble animal treats (kids will create a special treat for the cats, dogs and/or rabbits)
10:30-11:15ish Tour the building and distribute treats to the animals on our adoption floor
11:15-11:35ish Spend some time in the small animal room (interacting with rabbits)
11:35-12:00ish Back to the classroom for cake (possibly lunch and/or opening presents)

What's Included?

Host: A Humane Education staff member will be there to host the 2-hour private party, including a special behind-the-scenes tour and visiting all the residents on the adoption floor with a tasty treat.

Food: We provide light snacks (i.e. granola bars, fruit snacks). Pizza (or any main course) and cake are not included. You may bring food or have it delivered for your party. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to have the food delivered. We have a sink and access to a freezer if you have something that requires freezing.

Party Decorations/Gift Bag: We will provide basic decorations, tablecloths, serving supplies (napkins, cups, plates, silverware) and goody bags for each child. You are welcome to bring additional decorations if desired.

We can accommodate preschool-age children, and we will work with you to make sure we are providing a developmentally appropriate and safe experience for the younger children.

Presents: Some guests decide to spend time opening presents. We are flexible and will accommodate your schedule requests. If you ask party guests to bring donations, we will gladly and gratefully accept! Pet food (especially cat food) is our greatest need.

Donations: You are welcome to bring (or request your guests bring) shelter donations. We are always happy to accept donations, especially cat and kitten food!
