IHS stays open, with stipulations: ‘We ask that only serious adopters apply at this time’

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Idaho Humane Society is still open for business, but workers and animals will start seeing several changes.

The adoption center is now closed to the public except by appointment. The Humane Society says each available animal will have an online application and potential adopters will be given appointments to meet the animal.

“We ask that only serious adopters apply at this time,” IHS said. “It’s a fantastic time to adopt a pet and great way to welcome your new best friend home with plenty of time for potty training, developing routines and daily walks.”

IHS will still accept owner surrenders, but ask that people wait to bring in animals if their situation isn’t urgent. They are also asking that people only bring in injured cats. “Cats are very good at finding their way home and we discourage any trapping of cats at this time for capacity reasons,” IHS said.
