This program is designed for children ages 6–14 to gain experience with animals and participate in shelter projects. Due to the ever-changing schedules of Treasure Valley homeschool families, we have changed our program to meet their needs and interests. These sessions include critical thinking, language arts, empathy, and discovery.
Each session explores the following key educational topics:
- IHS goals and mission
- Humane awareness, compassion, and service
- Humane care for pets and safety around animals
Students will engage in hands-on, service-oriented activities including:
- Socializing animals
- Creating enrichment toys
- Making and distributing treats
- Helping around the shelter (i.e. washing dishes, windows, folding laundry, etc.)
- Games to learn about animal welfare and caring for pets
