Birthday

Parties

Whether you’re turning 6 or 100, we are happy to host your birthday or special occasion at IHS (select your date below). Your friends and family will have a fantastic time celebrating a loved one’s birthday, and you’ll make an impact at the same time. Integrated within the fun, partygoers will learn about IHS, what we do, and the importance of treating our furry friends with compassion and respect.

Two-hour parties are hosted in our Humane Education room at our shelter at 1300 S. Bird Street in Boise. We provide decorations and tablecloths, but guests are also welcome to bring their own. We will provide goody bags for the kids and a special gift for the honored birthday guest.

The party will be customized to your group’s interests, age, and size. We limit the number of birthday guests to 12, as we have found it provides the best experience for the birthday star, their friends, and the animals.

Because we are actively working to help homeless pets find their forever homes, the animals in the shelter are constantly changing, and we cannot guarantee direct animal interaction. Living in an animal shelter can be very stressful, and their safety and well-being are our main concerns. On the day of your scheduled event, our Humane Education staff member will work with the shelter staff to determine if some animals are social and interested in visiting with people.

“Thank you again for a great time and building memories! Our daughter & older son Judah loved It! All the parents and kiddos had a blast. It was very informative & a great experience all in one! We want to thank you and the Idaho Humane Society Adoption Center for your hard work & commitment to the community & Treasure Valley!”

What's Included?

Host: A Humane Education staff member will be there to host the 2-hour private party, including a special behind-the-scenes tour. Please let us know if the birthday honoree would like the opportunity to name a shelter animal. Partygoers will enter at the north end of the building at our Education Center. Parents will sign a waiver when dropping off their child.

Food: We provide light snacks (i.e. granola bars, fruit snacks). Pizza (or any main course) and cake are not included. You may bring food or have it delivered for your party. Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to have the food delivered. We have a sink and access to a freezer if you have something that requires freezing.

Party Decorations/Gift Bag: We provide basic decorations, tablecloths, serving supplies (napkins, cups, plates, silverware) and goody bags for each child. You are welcome to bring additional decorations if desired.

Presents: Some guests decide to spend time opening presents. We are flexible and will accommodate your schedule requests. If you ask party guests to bring donations, we will gladly and gratefully accept! Pet food–dog, cat, kitten and puppy—both wet and dry is our greatest need (we don’t need toys or other supplies).

The party will be customized to your group’s interests, age, and size.
