BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Idaho Humane Society is warning pet owners about a surge in scams targeting those who have posted about missing pets.
The Humane Society says the scams often appear legitimate and urgent, with fraudsters impersonating the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Humane Society.
Additionally, scammers may ask for a “processing fee” to return a found pet. Officials emphasize that neither the Idaho Humane Society nor the Ada County Sheriff’s Office will request payment over the phone for lost pets or emergency medical care. Read more…
