FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 28, 2024 Boise, ID – The Idaho Humane Society (IHS) is proud to announce a new collaborative agreement with Best Friends Animal Society, designed to provide critical support and guidance to Canyon County, its municipalities, and the West Valley Humane Society (WVHS). This partnership is poised to bring substantial improvements in animal welfare across Canyon County. Prior to this agreement, IHS significantly increased the number of pets transferred from WVHS into its care as part of a strategic effort to alleviate pressure on WVHS during its facility construction. This initiative was crucial in ensuring that animals continued to receive the necessary care throughout WVHS’s year-long facility construction and transition period. “We take pride in our long-standing partnership with West Valley and look forward to working closely with their dedicated staff, volunteers, and community members. Together, we will help the Canyon County nonprofit evolve into a stronger shelter with expanded community access,” said Dr. Jeff Rosenthal, CEO of the Idaho Humane Society. As part of this collaboration, IHS will take an active role in the daily operations of WVHS, focusing on enhancing public access to adoptions, redemptions, and other essential animal welfare programs. In the coming months, WVHS will begin implementing key policy changes aimed at achieving these objectives. West Valley Humane Society’s Board President, Caleb Smith, relayed, “Collaboration and partnerships are the key to providing the best possible services to our community and their pets.
