It’s time once again to help our 12 Strays of Christmas find loving homes for the holidays!

Every weekday between December 8th and December 23rd, we’ll be presenting an adorable, adoptable companion animal… our annual adoption celebration sponsored by our friends at Tom Scott Honda.

Watch live on the KTVB News at Noon or visit their website to see the 12 Strays of Christmas at a later time. Tune in and meet special dogs, cats, and maybe even a bunny who’ll all be hoping to find their forever homes this holiday season, each one introduced by wonderful shelter volunteers. Then follow along on our website and social media while we update each pet as they are adopted!

We’re thrilled to share that we have a $20,000 Leadership grant — every dollar you donate will be matched, doubling your impact to help pets and their families in need. Donate today to help us reach our goal and make a difference! We greatly appreciate the generosity and commitment to saving lives in the Treasure Valley and beyond.

1st Stray: Juniper
Meet Juniper, our 1st Stray of Christmas! This 5-month-old kitten is full of festive cheer and can’t wait to snuggle under the tree with her forever family. Juniper came to us as a stray, but she’s incredibly friendly, loves gentle cuddles, and will fill your holidays with purrs and joy. She’s dreaming of a cozy lap, twinkling lights, and spreading peace on earth this Christmas season.
2nd Stray: Bonnie
Bonnie is our 2nd Stray of Christmas, and she’s stepping into the season with a brand-new look and a hopeful heart. This lovely 9-year-old arrived to us a bit tangled and weary, but after a gentle grooming and plenty of comfort, she’s feeling lighter, brighter, and ready for her next chapter.

Bonnie may be a seasoned soul, but she carries herself with quiet cheer. She enjoys unhurried winter strolls, soft pats from kind hands, and curling up for peaceful naps—preferably near a warm blanket as the lights twinkle. We don’t know her past, but her calm presence and tender spirit make it easy to imagine her settling into a home that appreciates life at her pace. We have learned that Bonnie may be hard of hearing or possibly deaf.

We’re still getting to know this gentle girl, but we already know she deserves a cozy place to call her own before the holidays come to a close. If you’re looking for a faithful companion to share the quiet magic of the season, speak with a matchmaker about Bonnie today.
3rd Stray: Fruit Loop

Meet our Christmas sweetheart, Fruit Loop, a gentle stray who’s hoping this holiday season brings him the gift of a forever home. We’re still getting to know him, but what we’ve learned so far is enough to melt anyone’s heart. He’s an affectionate, easygoing boy who wants to be close to someone kind.

Car rides still make him a little unsure, but with patience and reassurance, he’s ready to learn that the journey can be just as comforting as the destination.

This tender soul is wishing that someone out there will “let their heart be light” and welcome him home for the holidays. With love, a warm place to rest, and a family to call his own, he’s sure to make spirits bright for many seasons to come. Come meet him and speak to a matchmaker to make his holiday wish come true! *Fruit Loop is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines.*

4th Stray: Kiliohu

Meet Kiliohu, our holiday charmer straight from the sandy shores of Maui. At just 3 years old, this gentle girl has already shown a heart big enough to “bring tidings of comfort and joy.” She came into a shelter in Hawaiʻi as a stray, but she didn’t hesitate to step in as a fill-in momma to puppies who weren’t her own. Her patient, nurturing nature made it clear: Kiliohu has love to spare.

Now she’s in Idaho, hoping this new chapter brings her the forever family she deserves. She adores other dogs, delights in carrying around her favorite stuffed toys, and never turns down a treat. With her soft spirit and kind heart, she’s the kind of companion who brings calm and sweetness into any home.

This holiday season, Kiliohu is wishing for a family to call her own—one that will let her curl up close, play with her toys, and finally enjoy the warmth of a home where she truly belongs. Maybe your home is the place where her Christmas wish comes true.

5th Stray: Gingerbread

Meet Gingerbread, our 5th Stray of the Season! Found wandering alone, this little fellow has proven to be as warm and comforting as his namesake. Gingerbread is the kind of dog who brings a touch of holiday magic wherever he goes. He doesn’t mind being scooped up and carried like a precious gift, and when he hits the ground again, he’s off in joyful zoomies that could rival “dashing through the snow.”

He takes treats with the gentleness of someone who knows he’s finally safe, and he greets each new day with quiet hope that his forever family might be the next carol at his door.

If you’re dreaming of a sweet companion this holiday season, Gingerbread is ready to make spirits bright.

6th Stray: Gertrude

Gertrude is our sixth stray of the season, and she’s jingling her way into everyone’s heart. We may not know much about her past, but Gertrude is all about what’s next. This confident, silly, and peppy little lady loves attention and enjoys spending time with her people—whether that’s hanging out, soaking up affection, or perfecting her role as a winter cuddle buddy.

She may be small, but Gertrude’s personality is truly merry and bright. If you’re dreaming of a cozy companion to make your season warmer and your days happier, she could be the one. Stop by, speak with a matchmaker, and meet Gertrude today—because all she wants for Christmas is a family to call her own.

7th Stray: Linda

Say hello to 10-year-old Linda, a sweet senior gal who wandered into the Idaho Humane Society as a stray and quickly stole our hearts. While her past is a bit of a mystery, one thing is certain—Linda is a gentle, loving soul who adores attention and cozy time with her people.

This golden girl has a little arthritis and chronic kidney disease, but she’s taking it all in stride. She’s on prescription kidney food, and her supply will head home with her when she’s adopted. What Linda truly wants for the holidays and beyond is a calm, caring home where she can relax, be spoiled, and enjoy the comfort she so deserves.

So while everyone’s rockin’ around the Christmas tree, Linda is dreaming of a soft bed, warm cuddles, and a family to call her own. Speak with a matchmaker today to meet lovable Linda and give her the peaceful, happily ever after she’s been waiting for.

8th Stray: Miso

Our 8th stray of Christmas is adorable, lovable Miso. This tiny nugget came to the Idaho Humane Society in late November when he was just about eight weeks old. After arriving, he spent a few important weeks in our WISKR program at the women’s correctional facility, where he received attentive care and the time he needed to get healthy and strong.

Now, with a curious spirit and a bright future ahead, this sweet kitten is ready to find a forever home of his own and bring joy to the world as the newest little light in a loving home.

9th Stray: Coal

Meet Coal — proof that not every Coal belongs in a stocking. This spunky little chihuahua mix came to us as a stray, but he’s quickly made it clear he’s on the nice list. In fact, rumor has it Coal might be one of Santa’s favorites this year.

Small in size but big on personality, Coal brings plenty of energy, curiosity, and festive cheer wherever he goes. He’s the kind of pup who would happily help Santa test out the reindeer warm-ups or keep watch from the sleigh with his bright eyes and wagging tail. Coal is playful, alert, and ready to be someone’s constant companion.

For Christmas, Coal’s wish is simple and heartfelt: a home with someone who has time to spend with him — whether that’s playtime, training, cozy couch moments, or long winter walks. He’s looking for a person or family who understands that good things come in small, energetic packages.

This holiday season, skip the coal and bring home the joy instead. Coal is ready to make every day feel a little more merry and bright.

10th Stray: Gumdrop

Meet Gumdrop — a holiday treat with a whole lot of heart.

This bright, wonderful puppy came to us as a stray, but he’s more than ready to unwrap his forever home. Gumdrop is full of energy, curiosity, and affection, and he’s growing into a larger-sized dog who will thrive with space to play, learn, and be part of the family fun.

He’s the kind of pup who will keep spirits high all season long — eager for adventures, excited for training, and happiest when he’s soaking up love from his people. Gumdrop is hoping for a family who’s ready to invest time, patience, and joy as he grows into the amazing dog he’s meant to be.

All he wants for the holidays is a home where he can stretch his legs, share his love, and make every day feel a little sweeter.

11th Stray: Greyson

Greyson is a sweet senior gentleman who came to the Idaho Humane Society as a stray, so much of his story is still a mystery. What we do know is this: he is kind, calm, and full of quiet charm. After spending time in a foster home, Greyson showed us just how special he is—he walks beautifully on leash, enjoys peaceful strolls, is housetrained, and carries himself with the easygoing grace of a dog who simply loves being by your side.

Greyson does have some arthritis, which may need medication or treatment down the road, but right now he’s comfortable and still happily enjoying life, one walk at a time. It hasn’t slowed his spirit, and it certainly hasn’t dimmed his loving heart.

This holiday season, Greyson’s only wish is a warm home, a soft place to rest, and a family to call his own. If you’re dreaming of a quiet Christmas filled with companionship and love, Greyson is ready to be home for the holidays—with you.

12th Stray: Bentley

Better watch out… because this sweet puppy is ready to steal your heart.

At just six months old, this playful little guy is our last stray of Christmas, and he’s hoping Santa doesn’t pass him by. He’s full of puppy joy—always ready to chase a toy, soak up affection, and roll over for belly rubs any chance he gets. Friendly, happy, and eager to be part of the fun, he would be a wonderful match for most kids and adults looking to add a little extra cheer to their home.

He’s been very good this year, and he’s hoping someone is making a list and checking it twice—with his name at the top. All he wants for Christmas is a family to love him, play with him, and make this holiday the start of a lifetime together.
