BOISE, Idaho — As we enter the fourth week of the government shutdown, the Idaho Humane Society is making sure federal worker’s furry friends have enough to eat.
The pet food pantry runs year round for families facing financial “speedbumps.” They provide a month’s worth of food for each family in need. Usually there are some restrictions and an application process, but this week they’re opening it up to the federal furloughed workers.
The Humane Society already has three carts of donated pet food since Friday. Last month they gave out 2,900 pounds of food, and they’re expecting to give out thousands more this month.
