We have received reports that an individual is acquiring pets from animals left outside in yards as well as purchasing them off Craigslist to harm and maim them outside of the Treasure Valley. We are working with police authorities to share information in order to find the perpetrator.
While we are not sure this individual is in fact living outside of the Treasure Valley, we encourage everyone to ensure their pets are being monitored and safely contained and highly encourage people not to rehome pets (free or paid) on Craigslist or social media without doing due diligence.
As always, we are here to serve with the rehoming of pets; please consider bringing animals you can no longer keep to our shelter so we assist in finding a new home.
The Idaho Humane Society works to protect all animals from abuse. We also believe that because domestic animals are a product of human intervention, we have a very special obligation to them in regard to humane treatment and responsible stewardship. Donations can be made to aid in this effort online.
