Willow is a 5-year-old IDAPI Program (dog training program at the prison) graduate and energetic, playful girl. For the last 4 years she has lived with a person who doted on her, and she is accustomed to being the center of attention. Her human died unexpectedly and she is now looking for another companion to dote on her, and keep up her extensive training – she loves to perform on command. All IDAPI graduates, and their human, receive life-time access to training support.
Willow is very people oriented and would do best as an only pet (no dogs or cats) or small children. She gets along with other dogs, and enjoys play dates, but tends to hog the people attention and gets pushy over resources. She is very well-behaved on walks, enjoys car rides, likes to interact with house guests and prefers to be with people – affectionate and a snuggler. She likes chew toys and will fetch a ball but is not ball crazy. She eats all sorts of fruits and vegetables, along with her dog food, and loves treats. Her previous owner worked at home and rarely left her; in foster she struggles with separation anxiety. Her anxiety has lessened as she has been left home for longer and longer periods, but her anxiety is an issue her new person will need to be aware of and work with her on.
Her heritage is listed as pitbull terrier mix – her foster believes she is mostly pointer/springer spaniel mix with a little pit throw in. Her current foster loves Willow and will dog sit when available.
