IHS Humane Education Out in the Community

Presentations

The Idaho Humane Society supplies speakers to classrooms, civic organizations, clubs and other interested groups. Speakers can discuss various animal-related issues with emphasis on caring for pets responsibly and lovingly.

To schedule a presentation please contact Melanie or Hannah in the IHS Volunteer Office by phone at (208) 331-8553 or by email at Volunteer@idahohumanesociety.org. Please contact us for scheduling at least two weeks before you'd like to have your group's presentation.

Teaching Children to Play Safe with Dogs

Each year, about 5 million people in the U.S., most under the age of 13, are bitten by dogs. Dog bite injuries are a leading cause of emergency admission of children to hospitals. The good news is that most dog bites can be prevented. The B.A.R.K. (Be Aware, Responsible, and Kind) Dog Bite Prevention Program is the only one of its kind proven effective in teaching elementary-school students how to behave safely around dogs. The Idaho Humane Society provides materials and an in-class instructor to grades two through four throughout Ada County.

To get your classroom involved please contact Kathy Fox by email at KFox@idahohumanesociety.org or by phone at (208) 331-8557.
